The Constitutional Court Commences Business

The President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, on 2nd May, 2016 assented to the Constitutional Court Act [ number 8 of 2016]. The [Rules] for the Constitutional Court were issued by the Hon. Chief Justice and were published in the Government Gazette number 37 of 2016, 27th May 2016.

The Constitutional Court conducted its first business on Monday 30th May, 2016.

There are currently six (6) Judges of the Constitutional Court:

- Hon. Lady Justice H. Chibomba - President

 

- Hon. Lady Justice A.M Sitali

- Hon. Lady Justice M. Mulenga

- Hon. Mr. Justice E. Mulembe

- Hon. Mr.Justice P. Mulonda

- Hon. Lady Justice  Prof. M. Munalula

The prescribed number of Judges of the Constitutional Court is thirteen (13) [See Superior Court Number of Judges] Act

The Registry for the Constitutional Court is located in the Lusaka High Court building, in the current Commercial Registry.
